What is Salvation?

Salvation is the process by which one enters into a relationship with God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Why do I need to be "saved"?

The Bible clearly states that there is None righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10).  It also tells us that everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  It goes on to say  (Romans 6:23) that the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Simply put, sin has begun the process of death in our lives.  To have eternal life, we Must trust in Jesus Christ and him ALONE for our salvation and eternal life (John 14:6).

How can I be "saved"?

This question is perhaps best answered in Acts 16:31.  After the prison doors had been opened by a great earthquake as a result of Paul and Silas' praising God in the midst of being imprisoned, the jailer asked them, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved"?  They answered, "believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household".  Paul and Silas knew the power of salvation is so strong that even the jailer's family would come to know the Lord as a result of the jailer's commitment.
It's as simple as that.  Are you ready to do that now?  If so, pray the following prayer and mean it in your heart:

"Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner.  I believe you died on the cross for my sins and that on the third day, God raised you from the dead.  I ask you now to forgive my sins and come into my heart and save me.  I give all that I am to all that you are.  Please help me to live for you from this day forward.  Amen".

Friend, if you prayed that prayer, and meant it in your heart the Bible says that you have been saved!  You have made the most important decision you can ever make in your life.

There are a few things you should do immediately:

1. Find someone you know is a Christian and share your decision with them.
2.  Find a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church in your area to join so you can grow in your faith as a new believer in Jesus.  The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:25 that it is very important to gather with other Christians regularly so we can be encouraged in our relationship with Christ.
3.  Find a Bible as soon as you can and begin reading in John chapter 1.  It is in reading your Bible and praying daily that God can begin to grow you spiritually and speak to you on a consistent basis.  There are many good translations of the Bible out there.  The one I personally recommend is the English Standard Version.  It is easily understood and is a very accurate translation.  You can find it online at
www.esv.org or in any Christian bookstore.
